Christopher Nolan Suggests Oppenheimer’s Conclusion Shares Resemblances with Inception’s “Complex” Ending
Renowned director and producer Christopher Nolan suggests that the ending of Oppenheimer shares certain similarities with Inception’s own intricate and intricate conclusion.

As per Christopher Nolan, the conclusion of Oppenheimer bears resemblances to Inception. While Oppenheimer is scheduled to debut on July 21, Inception, released in 2010, revolves around Leonardo DiCaprio’s Dom Cobb embarking on dream-walking escapades to absolve his criminal past and reunite with his family. In contrast, Oppenheimer narrates the tale of the individual instrumental in developing nuclear weapons, which continue to pose a threat to humanity even today.
While the characters in Oppenheimer and Inception may possess distinct underlying motivations, this does not imply that the films are drastically dissimilar. In an interview with WIRED, Christopher Nolan elaborates on his belief that the endings of Oppenheimer and Inception share remarkable similarities. Although elements of nihilism are present, there exists a certain degree of intellectual ambiguity as well. Take a look at his quote below:
“I mean, the end of Inception, it’s exactly that. There is a nihilistic view of that ending, right? But also, he’s moved on and is with his kids. The ambiguity is not an emotional ambiguity. It’s an intellectual one for the audience. It’s funny, I think there is an interesting relationship between the endings of Inception and Oppenheimer to be explored. Oppenheimer’s got a complicated ending. Complicated feelings.“
