During Crunchyroll’s announcement panel at Anime Expo, it was announced that Solo Leveling manhwa would be getting an anime release in 2023. The series is animated by Studio A-1 Pictures. There has been a teaser trailer released:
Solo Leveling Anime Officially Announced

The anime series is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (also known for his work on Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory). The screenplay will be written by Nobura Kimura. The Anime adaptation’s character design is handled by Tomoko Sudo, and music is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (also worked on Attack on Titan). A-1 Pictures, who were responsible for Kaguya Sama: Love Is War, Sword Art Online, and Your Lie In April, are animating the series. Although the cast for the series has not been announced yet, considering that it will release in 2023, they will do so soon.
In January 2022, rumours of an anime adaptation for Solo Leveling began when a trusted source from the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, confirmed the decision to format the popular manhwas as anime. A famous Japanese company known for handling A-1 Pictures’ anime websites registered the Solo Leveling domain a month earlier. A few hours before Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo panel, the key visual was leaked.
Chugong wrote a web novel named “Only I Level Up” that inspired Solo Leveling manhwa. The series became pretty popular in a short period of time that it was picked up by D&C to be adapted as Chugong wrote a web novel named “Chugong’s web novel “Only I Level Up”. attains a system which allows him to level up.
Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
