As One Piece continues to make manga history today, the series has surpassed 500 million copies printed (physically) and sold (digitally) around the world, becoming the first manga to do so, the first comic to do so from a single writer, and the second book series to accomplish this feat. Today, the 103rd volume of One Piece was released in Japan, based on the 3 million copies that were printed in the first run.
There has been a record-breaking sales run for Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga series. One Piece is Japan’s best-selling manga series. Besides the manga community, One Piece is also the most popular comic written by a single person worldwide.
One Piece has sold 500 million copies across the world, according to manga publisher Shueisha. Japan publishes 417 million copies, while 60 countries publish 100 million.
It set a Guinness World Record in 2015 for “The most copies published by a single author for the same comic book series.”
In today’s Guinness world record update, a new number of manga copies have been published and sold.
From Dec 1997 to July 2022, One Piece created by Eiichiro Oda (Japan) has had 415,566,000 copies printed and circulated. Manga copies sold outside of Japan were not included in the Guinness world record.
The One Piece manga series was started by Eiichiro Oda in 1997, and 103 volumes have been collected so far. The author of One Piece recently took a month off to prepare for the final saga. Toei Animation has also produced an anime adaptation of the series, which has so far released over 1000 episodes.
There is a live-action adaptation of One Piece in the works on Netflix, and an anime movie titled “One Piece film Red” will air on August 6 in Japan.
