Lupin III vs. Cat’s Eye is currently in the works according to Japanese animation studio TMS Entertainment. The cel-shaded CG crossover anime series will start its worldwide premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The announcement did not include the length of the series.
The new series is a back-to-back celebration of the 40th anniversary of Cat’s Eye (a manga by Tsukasa Hojo) and the 50th anniversary of Lupin III anime. The series is set in the ’80s. The Cat’s Eye sisters attempt to seize three paintings that belonged to their father, but Lupin is targeting the same thing. But a long-hidden mystery will also be revealed by the paintings.

Voice actors Kanichi Kurita and Keiko Toda (whose other roles include Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection’s Shamna) will reprise their roles as Arsene Lupin III and Hitomi Kisugi, respectively.
The original Lupin III manga series created by Monkey Punch follows the story of Arsène Lupin III, the grandson of the first Arsène Lupin from French writer Maurice Leblanc’s novels. The manga series originally ran in the Weekly Manga Action magazine in 1967. Tokyopop acquired the license to publish it in English.
Lupin III has been maintaining its popularity for the past five decades. Its seventh TV anime aired in 2021. It has 11 theatrical animated films to date.
On the other hand, Cat’s Eye began its serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump by publisher Shueisha in 1981. The plot centres on the exploits of the three Kisugi sisters, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, who are skilled art thieves attempting to amass all of their father’s stolen works of art. Cat’s Eye’s anime series ran for a total of 73 episodes, with the first one airing in 1983.
